Township-Wide FAQs

  • The Township Hall is located on the west side of Gratiot between 29 and 30 Mile Roads. The Fire Department Station #1, The Department of Public Works and the Richmond Lenox EMS. Station 3 are located on the east side of Gratiot, just north of 27 Mile Road. The Fire Department Station 2 is located on the south side of 32 Mile Road, just east of Lowe Plank Road.

  • The Township does have a park, it is located behind the Township Hall on Gratiot. Our park has many amenities.

  • A horse is considered a hoofed animal. Article 4 Section 719.13 C of our zoning ordinance states that 5 acres are needed for the first animal and an additional 1 acre for every additional animal. Please view page 23-24 of the zoning ordinance. Zoning Ordinance

    In 2024 the Board of Trustees passed the Off Road Vehicle Ordinance. There you can find all the rules and restrictions Lenox Township has on Off Road Vehicles on Dirt Roads!

  • The southeastern sections of the Township and the Gratiot Corridor have water and sewer service. The remainder of the Township is serviced by septic fields and wells maintained by the property owners.

  • Yes, permits are needed for most structures, ponds, pools, hot tubs/spas, burning etc. Please contact the Township Building Department for more specifics.

  • As storm water flows over our lawns and driveways, it picks up fertilizers, oil, chemicals, sediments, grass clippings, litter, pet waste, and anything else in its path. The storm drain system then transports these pollutants, now in the water, to local lakes and streams. Anything that goes into a storm drain eventually ends up in a lake or stream.

  • Pollutants from the roadways, lawns, construction sites, and carelessly discarded trash (cigarette butts, paper wrappers, and plastic bottles, etc.), when deposited into nearby storm water sewers, can impair the waterways, thereby discouraging recreational use, contaminating drinking water supplies, and interfering with habitat for fish and wildlife.
